Aquaculture Feed Systems

Formulated feeds

Formulated Feed has become more complicated to import - with health certificates and import permits now needed for feeds.

Ecotao is therefore only supplying container loads of feed if imported. We can supply some locally manufactured feeds, such as for tilapia and koi feeds. But again as a consumable, it is better to go direct to the major manufacturers.

Feed manufacture equipment

For feed equipment, however, we can offer are range of options for the small-scale (or large scale) manufacture of pellet feeds. Sinking pellet and floating pellet options are available.

We are actively marketing Integrated Aqua Systems equipment (USA), as this is a well tested and established brand. Please contact us for any feed distribution systems and blowers, automatic feeders and feeding equipment needed, aqua@ecotao.co.za

Larval development

The feeding schedules used for A. japonicus (mulloway) are comparable to those used for S. ocellatus (Soletchnik et al., 1988). The mouth of A. japonicus is large (275— 300 microns at day 2) and there is a possibility that first-feed larvae may be able to ingest newly hatched brine shrimp, eliminating the expensive production of rotifers
