Echinodorus harbich (family Alismataceae) is a small but sturdy plant with  dark green round leaves. It may be suseptable to iron deficiency, this can  be seen by yellowing leaves between the veins of the leaves and also by a  glassy appearance. The plants propagate easily vegetatively and the seed can  also be germinated. There also seems to be another variety of this plant available  which may be polyploide as the seeds seem to be infertile. This plant also  grows faster and bigger. The original smaller variety seems to do better grown  submerged.

Habitat

This is an aquatic emergent plant. It has very high moisture needs; suitable for bogs and water gardens.
